Breezefree recently installed one of the largest single structures in the companies history. This 61 square metre free standing structure was installed at the renowned 93 feet east bar and night club in London’s fashionable Shoreditch area.

Our brief from the client was to provide the largest amount of retractable outside coverage, with storm wind resistance, integrated heating and lighting for use all year round, which could also be combined with an outside bar that was going to be installed at the site.

Breezefree recommended an Italian motorised pergola awning system from Pratic for the retractable overhead cover. These durable awning systems have been wind-tunnel tested at Pininfarina, Grugliasco, Italy, without failure, and the structure we specified is Storm Force 10 rated, is virtually maintenance free and the silently operating opening and closing mechanism is warranted for 5 years.

Our client was happy with the proposed Pratic pergola awning concept and Breezefree proceeded to design a free-standing 7.7m projection x 7.9m wide retractable structure, with integrated heating and lighting and at 3.9m tall at its highest point presented a branding opportunity that was also designed-into the scheme.

Breezefree were able to use their extensive knowledge of heating, lighting and signage systems to select the most effective for the application. Breezefree used nine 1400kW IP 64 rated outdoor infra red heaters and four IP rated spot light track systems, all powder coated to the same finish as the pergola awning frame so that all the separate entities of the structure blended seamlessly together with a flexface concept branding panel.

In order to work in conjunction with the outdoor bar, Breezefree designed a bespoke guttering system between the pergola awning and the wall behind the bar, enabling the bar to be effectively operated in wet weather and for patrons to order drinks at this bar whilst remaining dry.

Breezefree completed the installation on time and to budget, with installation and commissioning taking 3 days including all ground works and subsurface electrical feeds.В  Our client had full use of the structure throughout the Christmas and New Year period reinforcing the rapid return on investment gained from retractable pergola awnings. Our client was very pleased with the finished installation and we are continuing to work with this client, helping them improve their alfresco area further at this and at other sites.
